At least, that’s where I assume the whole “low carb” thing came from. Here are the facts: you need carbs. In fact, if you want to get long, lean, sexy muscles, you need quite a lot of carbohydrates. Carbohydrates give you energy, and they give your muscles the energy that they need to recover quickly. The trick is to know what carb sources to eat. If the carbohydrates make your blood sugar spike quickly, like what happens when you eat white bread, sugar, or drink fruit juice or soda, then it will probably get turned into fat. If it comes from a source where the blood sugar affect is more gradual, like when you eat fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, then you get a more power weight loss effect. Making even small changes to your typical diet can have big impacts on your waistline. Make your sandwich with wheat bread instead of white bread. Make whole wheat pasta instead of typical white pasta. These slight adjustments will have a big impact on your weight loss.
When You Eat Is Almost Important as What You Eat - If you were take two people, who did the exact same exercises, and eat the exact same foods, but differed in the timing of how they ate, they would lose weight and gain muscle at different rates. So if you were to spread those calories out over six smaller meals instead of three big ones, you fire up your metabolism twice as many times. That means that you burn more calories even though you are eating the exact same amount of food. Do Your Cardio Long After You Have Eaten - To maximize fat loss, you want your cardio to burn as much fat as possible. If you workout immediately after you have a meal, what you are actually burning off is the calories form the food you just ate. If you wait a couple hours afterwards, you give your food some time to digest, and your cardio time becomes more effective towards going straight to burning fat. Ideally, you actually want to do your cardio right after you wake up, before you eat breakfast. Since you blood sugar is very low at this time, cardio is most effective at burning pure fat. If this isn’t practical for you, however, just try to make sure that you eat at least two hours before you do any cardio exercise. This alone will speed up your fat loss significantly.
