About Newport Beach
The city of Newport has been made famous in recent years due to the television show “The OC”, bringing in tourists and fans hoping to catch some of the scenery from the show, which interestingly enough was not filmed in Newport Beach. There is a television series being filmed in the city now, “Newport Harbor: the real OC” an MTV production. Newport beach was established in 1906, and has annexed several cities into its coverage, including Balboa, Corona Del Mar, Santa Ana Heights, Newport Coast and San Joaquin Hills. Attractions in Newport beach include the famous Balboa Pavilion and Balboa Fun Zone, offering fishing, arcades, a ferris wheel, restaurants and retail. The Catalina Flyer, a gigantic 500 person Catamaran Boat, leaves from the Balboa Pavilion every day to Catalina, to the Avalon Harbor. Other areas of interest in Newport include the Back Bay, Fashion Island, the Balboa Island Ferry, The Wedge ( a well known body boarding hangout) and Crystal Cove Park.
